Each article that is processed by the editors (regardless of whether it is submitted or sent for reworking) is to be evaluated and graded on a standard rating scale. The rating scale functions on two principles:
A five-star rating system to record the editor’s evaluation of the assignment’s quality of language, content, originality, engagement, and level of brief adherence
Multi-select options for specific issues within each category of evaluation
First, select the most appropriate score for a particular category of evaluation on a scale of one to five, with one being very poor and five being excellent. Then, if one or more of the categories are given a score of three stars or less (average, poor, or very poor), select the specific issues that led to the rating.
It is extremely important to provide a true rating for each assignment as it leads the team at Pepper to initiate effective targeted issue resolution actions and broad quality improvement measures.
