Follow these best practices to use Opportunity Board optimally

Opportunity Board is a step toward complete independence and control over the work you take up, a system based on our faith in editor engagement and trust in an editor’s sense of ownership.

How will I get new assignments?

  • All new assignments will be shown to the editorial pool on the basis of availability and can be picked up on a first-come-first-serve basis (subtext: Be quick to accept work).

  • Editors will receive notifications on WhatsApp whenever a new opportunity is added.

  • All assignments (New requests, Editorial reworks, and Client reworks) will now show up on the Opportunity board. To access available assignments please check the opportunity board, as opposed to the home tab as was the previous process.

Will reworks be a part of the Opportunity Board?

  • Rework opportunities will be clearly identifiable. You will also be able to see the number of times an article has been sent for re-work.

  • To account for re-works that come in during the day and to make their timely deliveries manageable, a percentage of your daily bandwidth has been reserved for reworks .

  • Editorial reworks will be allotted to the same editor who worked on the previous editing round and editors have complete ownership of the assignment until submission. (Should a rework be passed, the editor will not be eligible for payment for that assignment).

Can I claim as many new opportunities as I want?

  • In the presence of pending re-works, an editor will not be able to claim new assignments beyond the set limit.

Representative example:

Available capacity = 8000 words

Capacity distribution = 5000 words new assignments + 3000 words incoming reworks

Under this condition, you will not be able to take up new assignments beyond 5000 words. However, if you clear the new assignments you already have and have no reworks, the freed limit from your submitted assignments can be used to take up new assignments. This helps you plan your day better.

In other words, the ability to accept new assignments is based on the completion of accepted assignments.

Are there any deadlines/timeslots?

  • Deadlines are set and fixed to one of 3 slots during the day: 8 am, 8 pm, and 2 pm. Please make sure to accept work only when you can ensure timely submissions. We strongly discourage deadline breaches.

Are there any opportunities shown exclusively to me?

  • Some opportunities may be visible only to select editors when editors are localized to specific clients. Such opportunities are called exclusive opportunities. These opportunities will be highlighted on the opportunity card and are to be prioritized over any other assignments, if visible.

Please reach out if you have any questions. We will be happy to address any concerns you have.
